Comedian/actor/educator Bill Cosby takes the stage at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Fine Arts Center, East Arkansas Community College, 1700 Newcastle Road, Forrest City. The Old State House Museum is partnering with the Torn Kite Theatre Co. to stage The Bridegroom of Blowing Rock by Catherine Trieschmann, about women in a small North Carolina town keeping their homes together in the absence of able-bodied men during the last days of the Civil War, 7:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the museum, 300 W. A career-driven journalist (Case Dillard) is reunited with his former college professor (Alan Douglas) who is battling Lou Gehrig’s disease and gets a last class in the meaning of life in Tuesdays With Morrie by Jeffrey Hatcher and Mitch Albom, based on Albom’s best-selling book, which the Weekend Theater, West Seventh and Chester streets, Little Rock, is staging at 7:30 p.m. Friday-Saturday, April 11-12 and 18-19 and 2:30 p.m. April 13. Jazz saxophonist and arranger Steve Owen, with a five-piece combo of local jazz musicians(Michael Underwood, trombone; Michael Carenbauer, guitar; Tom Cox, piano; Bill Huntington, bass; and Brian Brown, drums), will perform tunes by Owen, compositions by University of Arkansas at Little Rock faculty members and jazz standards (including Herbie Hancock’s “Driftin’,” Ray Henderson’s “Bye Bye Blackbird” and Dave Brubeck’s “In Your Own Sweet Way”) at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall, Fine Arts Building, UALR, 2801 S. The supporters of Catholic High School are emptying their closets and attics for the annual Catholic High Junktique Sale, 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Catholic High School, 6300 Father Tribou St., Little Rock. Batesville has turned itself over to a host of movies, long and short, for the annual Ozark Foothills FilmFest, continuing through Sunday. The panel discussions, workshops and film screenings take place at several locations in Batesville, including the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville, Lyon College, Landers Theater Building and Old Independence Regional Museum.

Some screenings are free, but otherwise tickets are $5, $4 for ages 55 and older and students, $3 for Foothills Film Society members.

8 TRUCKING LITTLE BABY

Bluesman John Hammond, credited, among other things, with introducing Bob Dylan to the musicians who would become The Band, headlines the annual Roots Music Festival, part of Arkansas State University’s Delta Symposium and Lecture-Concert Series, 5 p.m. Saturday at City, Water, and Light Park, 1123 S. Culberhouse St., Jonesboro, with a number of acts on the lineup. In case of rain, the festival moves to the university’s Carl R. Reng Student Union Auditorium. Admission is free. Saturday’s event will include a potting demonstration at 1 p.m. and lectures at 2 and 3 p.m. Admission is free.

The people won’t sing for much longer. Jean Valjean and all those revolutionaries march off for the last time this weekend as the Arkansas Repertory Theatre’s production of Les Miserables draws to a close.
