Jazz saxophonist and arranger Steve Owen, with a five-piece combo of local jazz musicians(Michael Underwood, trombone; Michael Carenbauer, guitar; Tom Cox, piano; Bill Huntington, bass; and Brian Brown, drums), will perform tunes by Owen, compositions by University of Arkansas at Little Rock faculty members and jazz standards (including Herbie Hancock’s “Driftin’,” Ray Henderson’s “Bye Bye Blackbird” and Dave Brubeck’s “In Your Own Sweet Way”) at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Stella Boyle Smith Concert Hall, Fine Arts Building, UALR, 2801 S. Batesville has turned itself over to a host of movies, long and short, for the annual Ozark Foothills FilmFest, continuing through Sunday. The panel discussions, workshops and film screenings take place at several locations in Batesville, including the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville, Lyon College, Landers Theater Building and Old Independence Regional Museum.
Some screenings are free, but otherwise tickets are $5, $4 for ages 55 and older and students, $3 for Foothills Film Society members.
