A single-vehicle wreck Wednesday night in Columbia County left a man dead and four people injured, the Arkansas State Police said.

A 1999 Ford truck driven by Blaine Acklin, 22, of Magnolia was driving west on Columbia County Road 53 about 11 p.m. when the pickup failed to negotiate a curve, left the road and hit a tree, according to a preliminary state police accident report.

A passenger, Austin Blake Glass, 19, of Emerson, was pronounced dead early Thursday at Magnolia Regional Medical Center, state police said.

Three other passengers, all Emerson residents, and Acklin were injured and taken to hospitals in Texarkana and Magnolia, state police said. Information on their conditions was not immediately available.

The weather was clear and road conditions dry at the time, according to the report.

Glass' death marked the 76th fatality in vehicle wrecks on Arkansas roads this year, according to preliminary figures.
