A Little Rock man has been charged in the Thursday night death of his father, authorities said.

Officers were called at 11:27 p.m. about an assault in progress at a home at 11817 Doe Run Drive, where they found the door open and Sean Johnson, 30, standing in the kitchen, according to a Little Rock Police Department report.

The officers pointed a gun and a Taser at Johnson, who had no weapons in his hands but refused to lie down on the floor and was yelling at officers to shoot him, police said.

Johnson was handcuffed but continued to throw "his body weight around" — the report lists him at 6 foot 2 and 300 pounds — and struggle with officers until the Taser was used on him, but he kept telling officers they'd have to shoot him before he'd let them up off the floor, according to the report.

Officers then saw Ronald Johnson, 60, lying on the living-room floor, not breathing, the report states. He was taken to St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said. His body will be examined to determine the cause of death, Little Rock police Lt. Sidney Allen added in an email.

Hope Johnson, 57, told police that Sean Johnson had assaulted her and his father with a knife, the men had struggled, and at some point, Sean Johnson pushed Ronald Johnson down and hit and kicked him in the head, police said. Hope Johnson told officers she picked up the knife and hid it in a corner.

Sean Johnson was taken to Baptist Health Medical Center for treatment of a small cut on his hand and later charged with second-degree murder and aggravated assault on a family member, police said.
