GOP derails gender pay gap bill in Senate

By The Associated Press

This article was published April 9, 2014 at 11:10 a.m.

WASHINGTON — Senate Republicans derailed a Democratic bill Wednesday curbing paycheck discrimination against women, an effort that even in defeat Democrats hoped would pay political dividends in this fall's congressional elections.

Wednesday's vote was 53-44 to halt GOP tactics aimed at derailing the legislation, but that fell six short of the 60 Democrats needed to prevail.

Read tomorrow's Arkansas Democrat-Gazette for full details.

I think it's just so they can afford to pay the high gas prices we have so they can drive to work. Can't these dang women carpool?

Who the heck is the government to tell companies how much they have to pay? Oh yeah, you idiots believe in a minimum wage so why not just make up some other law? Companies just have buckets of money lying around that can used for such dictatorial commands from on high.

Obama pays women in the White House 12 cents less than men for the same job! Hypocrite! More smoke & mirrors to detract us from the Obamacare disaster and his multitude of scandals. Can you say BENGHAZ!? FAST & FURIOUS? IRS?

Democrats truly are idiots. ".....an effort that even in defeat Democrats hoped would pay political dividends in this fall's congressional elections." They admit this is purely a political stunt aimed at getting more female members of the UIA (Useful Idiots of America) to vote Democrat while failing to acknowledge this particular demographic of the UIA will vote Democrat no matter what! No woman in American capable of critical thought would EVER be swayed by this obvious political ploy. Obama, Reid, Pelosi, et al wasted political capitol for no useful purpose whatsoever. They truly are a gaggle of idiots, useful and otherwise.

This proposal of requiring government contractors to allow employees to discuss their wages was a pretty weird way to address gender pay equality no matter how much you support it.

To keep women in their place the G.O.P. needs to go to heart of the problem and repeal the 19th amendment.

What's new about the GOP war on women? Arkansas women have not realized what is going on yet, hope they do by election time.
