You can be ASU coach for a price

Ever had the desire to coach a college football team?

Arkansas State is offering the chance.

No, the Red Wolves haven’t lost another head coach. Instead, the Red Wolves Foundation and ASU are auctioning off a chance to let the highest bidder coach the Red Wolves in their April 18 spring game at Centennial Bank Stadium in Jonesboro.

According to the ad on the online auction site eBay, the winning bidder gets to:

Be “head coach for the game on Friday, April 18.”

Speak to the team before the scrimmage and at halftime.

Make critical decisions, like when to go for it on fourth down or punt.

Call for a “deep ball, trick play, run or pass, blitz.”

Spend the game wearing a headset with the coaching staff.

Receive a “Powerade bath,” providing you win.

Receive photos and ASU gear.

The bidding, which closes April 14, has started at $2,500.

For keeps

So now that Kentucky didn’t win the national championship, what’s going to happen to the guy who got the tattoo before the NCAA Tournament proclaiming that the Wildcats would?

He’s going to keep it, ESPN.com reports.

Tyler Austin Black, a 22-year old from Richmond, Ky., got a tattoo on his calf before the tournament that read: “2014 NATI9NAL CHAMPIONS,” with the 9 signifying what would have been the Wildcats’ ninth national title.

He received plenty of online criticism after revealing the tattoo, but then received a lot of attention as the No. 8 seeded Wildcats made a run to Monday’s national championship game before losing to Connecticut.

Black said Tuesday he has no plans to remove the $80 tattoo.

“I’m keeping it,” he told ESPN.com. “It’s a way to remember this team, and it’s part of my life story.”

Black told Yahoo Sports before Monday’s title game that much of the reaction he has received has been negative.

“Really nasty,” he said. “People have called me inbred, said I need to cut my leg off … if we don’t win it all. I’ve always said I’m not going to cover it up. But losing in the first round would have been horrible. I probably would have had to delete my Twitter.”

Not up to par

Indiana Pacers guard Paul George is having a season similar to his stellar seasons of the past, but it’s not enough for some Pacers fans.

A Pacers fan recently took an ad out at online classifieds site Craigslist with the headline: “MISSING: Paul George’s Talent.”

George’s average of 21.7 points per game is the highest of his career so far, but his rebounds are down this season (from 7.6 to 6.5) and so are his assists (from 4.1 to 3.5).

Apparently that’s enough to upset some fans of the team that has lost eight of its past 11 games.

“The talent for short-lived NBA superstar Paul George has gone missing,” the ad read. “We’re desperate to reunite the talent back with the body before the NBA playoffs start in a few weeks. We’ve checked everywhere.”

Some people are hard to please.
