Putin warns Europe about Ukraine gas debt

By The Associated Press

This article was published April 10, 2014 at 8:29 a.m.

DONETSK, Ukraine — Vladimir Putin is telling European leaders that Ukraine's growing gas debts to Moscow can threaten supplies to Europe, according to his press secretary.

Dmitry Peskov told state news agency RIA Novosti on Thursday that Putin "expressed his utmost concern" to European leaders about the growing gas debts of Ukraine, which Moscow says owes Russia more than $16 billion. Peskov did not otherwise discuss Putin's message, but said it contained "urgent measures, as the situation requires no delay."

The move is designed to exert economic pressure on Europe, which receive a large portion of its gas from Russia through Ukraine. Putin has tightened the economic screws on the cash-strapped Kiev government since it came to power in February, when its Russia-leaning president fled the country after months of protest.

"when its Russia-leaning president fled the country after months of protest."

Actually didn't he leave the country to save his life after the Neo-Nazi group Svoboda led a Coup and threatened his life and his supporters lives?

Why try to leave the impression that he just up and abandoned his position?

And didn't the Coup take place immediately after Yanukovitch and the Neo-Nazi group signed an agreement and also signatories to that agreement included the United States and NATO. The deal was for elections to be done in December 2014.

When the Government of Ukraine let the opposition into the Government buildings the Government was immediately overthrown by force.

Now isn't that what happened instead of "when its Russia-leaning president fled the country after months of protest."?

Bill
The idiocy of all this is that our own "Rule of Law" has been ignored. It is against our laws to support a Coup. The Coup didn't just happen overnight. The U S has spent something approaching $100 million in the last few years fomenting unrest in Ukraine against the Pro-Russian Government trying to accomplish just what occurred - a Coup against that Pro-Russian Government.
I seriously doubt that the citizens of Ukraine would vote in a Pro-Western Government much less a Neo-Nazi Government given a free election. But the fact is that the U S and NATO want to hogtie Russian entry out of their only warm water port. The idea is to cripple the Russian economy.
What worries me most Bill is that this is how World Wars start.
There is a faction in the United States and yes indeed in the world that would want this to happen short of Nuclear war. War is an amazing profit tool for elites of this world and they continue to nurture the ground to see that it happens continually.
The non elites get to fight the wars, die or suffer, to fatten the bank accounts and financial control of those war mongers because they, the elites, don't fight in the wars, they are too busy counting their profits.

And DDDKA

Those that face each other to die and be blown to bits, don't seem to realize that both sides fighting each other, and are killing each other to enhance profits of the very same group of people.

For example, the German Chemical Industrial Giant, I G Farben made a deal with an American International Oil and Gas Giant that whoever won the War would take care of the other Companies Top Managers and owners. Not one I G Farben Top Figure was brought to Nuremburg, they all settled in America with Executive jobs with the American Oil and Gas Company.

DDDKA

Yes, I see that you know the connection. Several U S International Corporations sold war materials to Germany - after the war started.
