South on Main is presenting “That Nashville Sound: A Tribute to Ray Price” at 5 p.m. Sunday as a benefit for the Oxford American magazine.
The event will profile Price’s life and music, with The Salty Dogs leading two sets that will include a rotating cast of central Arkansas musicians, including Amy Garland, Bonnie Montgomery, Mark Currey, Dave Almond, Ben Meade, Lauralee Williard, Buddy Case and John Talley.
Price, who died in December, was known for hits such as “For the Good Times,” “I Won’t Mention It Again,” “Make the World Go Away” and “Crazy Arms.”

The White Water Tavern will present a pair of notable Arkansas acts this weekend, starting Friday with Jim Mize, who will be backed by Joe Meazle and RJ Looney.
Mize, whose day job is that of insurance adjuster, recorded two albums, No Tell Motel and Release It to the Sky, for Fat Possum Records. He has toured with musical pals Blue Mountain and Buddy Flett.
Admission to the 9:30 p.m. show is $6.
Saturday, the club will host Shipp, a band led by Michael “Roosterboy” Shipp, whose Arkansas music credentials date to the early 1980s, when he was in one of the first tribute bands, Tres Hombres, alongside Billy Bob Thornton, as they performed the songs of ZZ Top.
Shipp also includes bassist/guitarist Jai Lambert and drummer Richard Wilson.
Admission to the 9 p.m. show is $6.

Tyrannosaurus Chicken will perform Friday night at Stickyz Rock ’n’ Roll Chicken Shack.
A west Arkansas duo, Tyrannosaurus Chicken consists of Smilin’ Bob Lewis, from Paris (Logan County), and Rachel Ammons, from Barling (Sebastian County).
The Mansion Family, from east Texas, will open the show at 9 p.m. Admission is $7 for those over age 21 and $10 for those under 21.
On Saturday, the club will host The Black Lillies, a Knoxville, Tenn., band led by Cruz Contreras, who co-founded the band Robinella & the CC Stringband with his ex-wife. When their marriage ended and the group disbanded, Contreras went on to form The Black Lillies, which has released three CDs, with singer Trisha Gene Brady and three others now in Contreras’ band.
Tickets are $8 in advance, $10 at the door.
Sunday, the club will feature Humming House as the headliner. Carolina Story will open the 8 p.m. show.
Humming House is a folk/ blues/bluegrass and pop band from Nashville, Tenn., staffed by four men and a woman.The group has toured with Jason Isbell, Lyle Lovett, Dr. Dog, Bruce Hornsby and the Carolina Chocolate Drops.

Juanita’s will present G-Eazy tonight. Torey Lanez will open at 9 p.m. G-Eazy, a graduate of Loyola University New Orleans, is known for his 2011 remake of Dion’s 1961 hit, “Runaround Sue.” He and Canadian rapper Lanez began the “These Things Happen” tour Jan. 15.
Tickets are $15.
Friday, Marsha Ambrosius will perform at 9 p.m., accompanied by Rodney Block.
Ambrosius is a British-born singer-songwriter, formerly a member of Floetry, now living in Philadelphia. She has worked with Busta Rhymes, Nas, Jamie Foxx, Alicia Keys and Kanye West.
Tickets are $20.
Sunday, the club will host “The Classic Rock Experience” at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15. Midnight Special, a Cincinnati-based group, is the featured band, and will perform songs by Queen, Grand Funk Railroad, Journey, Styx, Boston, Elton John, Deep Purple and others from the era that went on to be called “classic rock.”

Kansas City rapper Tech N9ne will perform at 9 p.m. today at the Rev Room, as part of his “Independent Grind Tour.”
Opening acts are Freddie Gibbs, Krizz Kaliko, Jarren Benton, the Psych Ward Druggies and 870 Underground.
Tech N9ne lists his influences as Slick Rick, N.W.A., Public Enemy, Biggie Smalls, The Doors, Outkast, PinkFloyd, Metallica, Led Zeppelin and Gnarls Barkley.
On May 6, Tech N9ne will release his 14th album, Strangeulation.
Admission is $30.
At 9 p.m. Friday, the club will hold the latest version of its New Music Test to showcase new sounds.
