Police say woman

stole $9,000 ring

A 21-year-old Jacksonville woman was arrested Friday afternoon after she was accused of taking a ring reportedly worth $9,000, only to sell it for $50, police said.

Sydnee Richarnae Sabbie of Jacksonville was charged with a single count of felony theft. She wasn’t listed on the online inmate roster Friday night at the Pulaski County Jail.

The arrest came about a week after a Jacksonville man, Gerald Moore, told Jacksonville police that his gold ring with an orange topaz stone that he said was valued at $9,000 turned up missing after a woman came to his residence April 5 to do his daughter’s hair. Moore took off the ring, placed it on top of a microwave oven and went outside, police said.

Upon returning, he saw that it was gone. Moore told police he confronted Sabbie and another woman with her but both denied taking the ring.

Officers did an online search and found that Sabbie had sold an orange topaz gold ring to Arkansas Gold and Diamond Exchange in Sherwood for $50 on Monday, according to Sabbie’s arrest disposition report.
