U.S. 70 lanes close for pavement tests

Pavement testing on U.S. 70 will require lane closures between Hot Springs and Interstate 30 beginning Monday, the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said.

Crews performing the tests in preparation for widening U.S. 70 will require the closures from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily through Friday, weather permitting.

The closures will begin in the eastbound lane at Hot Springs just east of the Hot Springs Bypass and continue to I-30, the department said. Once testing is complete on the eastbound lane, crews will perform work on the westbound lane, beginning at I-30 and moving toward Hot Springs.

When the lane closure is in an area with no passing lane, the closure will require traffic to be flagged through the work area, the department said. When the lane closure is in an area with the passing lane in the j1

opposite direction, the passing lane is to be used by traffic moving in the same direction as the closed lane.
