Early morning shooting leaves woman critically injured

— A man has been charged with first-degree battery after he led officers to where a woman had been shot, the Little Rock Police Department said.

Little Rock officers responded to a call about some unknown trouble at 3 a.m. Sunday, police said.

When police got to the scene at 8485 Stanton Road, they saw Juan Montalba, 25, yelling in the middle of the road.

Little Rock Police Department spokesman Lt. Sidney Allen said Montalba directed the officers to a parking lot, where Lemen Arana, 32, was in the front passenger seat of a vehicle with a gunshot wound in her head.

Allen said MEMS responded to the scene and took Arana to UAMS Medical Center, where she is listed in critical condition.

Montalba was interviewed and was arrested on a charge of first-degree battery on the basis of the statements he gave to officers, police said.
