3 killed in wrecks on state roadways

Three Arkansans died in separate accidents on state roads Friday and Saturday, according to preliminary Arkansas State Police fatality crash reports.

About 11:45 a.m. Saturday, Terry Barley, 53, of Dermott was driving west on Arkansas 8 just west of Fordyce in Dallas County on a 2013 Honda motorcycle with a group of others when he failed to negotiate a curve, the report states. He veered off the road and into a ditch, running into a culvert, state police said.

Barley was airlifted to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock, where he later died of his injuries.

Justin McCoy, 32, of Harriet died Saturday after a head-on collision in Searcy County, state police said.

McCoy was westbound about 7:50 a.m. on a 2003Honda motorcycle on Arkansas 14 less than two miles west of Big Flat when he crossed the centerline and collided with an eastbound 1998 Ford, the report states. The Ford driver, Keith Mc-Daniel, 40, of Harriet, was uninjured, the report states.

Cedric Gold, 31, of Wilmar died Friday after he crashed into a train in Desha County, state police said.

About 8:20 a.m. that day, Gold was driving a 2003 Mack tractor-trailer north on Arkansas 1, about half a mile north of McGehee, when he tried to stop for a train, state police said.

The tractor-trailer hit the train, which was headed west on the railroad tracks, and Gold died of his injuries, the report states.

The train engineer, Carolyn Young, 46, of McGehee and passenger Nick Raino, 31, of Hamburg were uninjured.
