Dykes names Christy Smith as top assistant

FAYETTEVILLE — New Arkansas women's basketball Coach Jimmy Dykes has added former Razorback Christy Smith as an assistant coach.

Dykes says Smith will join the staff as the top assistant and will work with every aspect of the Razorback program.

Smith served as an assistant coach for three years at Purdue and three years at Valparaiso in her home state of Indiana. She was an All-American when she played for the Razorbacks in the 1990s and led the team to the Final Four in 1998.

She was the No. 17 overall pick in the 1998 WNBA draft and played for two seasons for the Charlotte Sting.
