Police say LR man shot woman in head

A Little Rock man was arrested Sunday after police said he shot a woman in the head.

Juan Montalba, 25, was arrested and charged with domestic first-degree battery. He was taken to the Pulaski County jail where he was awaiting a bail hearing.

About 3 a.m. Sunday, Little Rock police were called to 8485 Stanton Road, where they found Montalba screaming in the middle of the street, police said.

He pointed officers to the parking lot there, where authorities found Lemen Arana, 32, with a gunshot wound in her head in the front passenger seat of a vehicle, police said.

Arana was taken to UAMS Medical Center, where she was treated for critical injuries, police said.

According to the arrest report, Montalba admitted to shooting his girlfriend in the head with a handgun.

Police search for 2 after teenager shot

Little Rock police are looking for two men who they say shot another man in a foiled robbery attempt Saturday.

About 5:15 p.m., Little Rock officers were called to a shooting at West 14th and Elm streets, where they found Tevin Mills, 18, with a gunshot wound in the leg, police said.

Mills told officers he was going east on West 14th Street when two men - one he knew as “Lil Marquise” and the other he knew as “CD,” police said - pulled up on a moped and tried to take Mills’ wallet and cellphone, police said. When Mills wouldn’t hand the items over, “Lil Marquise” started shooting, hitting Mills in the leg, police said, adding that the two men then took off in an unknown direction.

Mills suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening, police said.
