SUN BELT ARKANSAS STATE 3, SOUTH ALABAMA 2

MOBILE, Ala. - Zach Maggio doubled in the top of the ninth to score the go-ahead run as Arkansas State won at Stanky Field Sunday.

Maggio doubled inside the line to score Dustin Jones from first for the Red Wolves (20-16, 10-5 Sun Belt Conference).

Morgan Croft picked up the save despite putting two runners on. Tyler Zuber pitched 1 1/3 innings in relief of Bradley Wallace, allowing 1 hit to get the victory. Wallace allowed 2 runs on 8 hits in 6 innings while striking out 7 and walking 2.

LA.-LAFAYETTE 6, UALR 3

LAFAYETTE, La. - Louisiana-Lafayette scored four early runs and held on to beat UALR on Sunday at Tigue Moore Field.

The Ragin’ Cajuns (34-4, 14-1 Sun Belt Conference) built a 4-0 lead with one in the second inning and three more in the third against UALR starter Cameron Allen. Austin Pfeiffer ended the shutout threat in the sixth with a solo homer.

UALR (13-20, 3-12 SBC) put together a late charge in the eighth, but the Trojans couldn’t overcome the deficit.

Pfeiffer led the Trojans’ offense going 2-for-4.

SOUTHLAND UCA 4, NICHOLLS STATE 3

THIBODAUX, La. - Central Arkansas sophomore Connor Gilmore pitched 8 innings and survived a ninth-inning rally as the Bears won at Ray E. Didier Field on Sunday.

The Colonels loaded the bases against UCA reliever Connor McClain and scored once before Carson Dowdle ran down a fly ball for the final out to preserve the victory for the Bears (18-5, 7-8 Southland).

Pinch hitter Seth Stephens doubled for the Colonels and Justin Smith and Phillip Lyons walked to load the bases. Leo Vargas was hit by a pitch to cut the lead to 4-3 before Keith Cormier flied to right to end the game.

SWAC UAPB 16, SOUTHERN 7

PINE BLUFF - UAPB had 17 hits with Isias Alcantar going 4 for 6 with 3 runs scored and 3 RBI in the Golden Lions’ victory at the Torii Hunter Complex.

Southern (6-18, 2-11 SWAC) had 15 hits in the contest with D.J. Wallace going 4-for-5 from the plate, scoring 2 runs and driving in 1 to lead the Jaguars.

Kyle Schwartz (3-4) picked up the victory for the Golden Lions as he pitched 6 innings, allowing 13 hits, 7 earned runs and striking out 1, while Samuel Olson pitched 3 innings in relief, allowing 2 hits, and 2 walks.

J’Markus George (0-3) took the loss for the Jaguars as he pitched 3 1/3 innings, allowing 9 hits and 7 earned runs, while Victor Ilarraza, pitched 42/3 innings in relief, allowing 8 hits, 3 earned runs and striking out 1.
