Teen dead in exchange of gunfire in Pine Bluff, police say

An 18-year-old Pine Bluff man has died after an exchange of gunfire with another man Sunday night, authorities said.

John Burnett Jr. suffered a gunshot wound in his chest and later died at Jefferson Regional Medical Center, according to a Pine Bluff Police Department news release.

Authorities say Burnett traded shots with 26-year-old Reginald Lee Jr. in the 1200 block of North Willow Street and both fled after being hit.

Lee, who was shot in the upper back and neck, was found a few blocks away before being taken to the hospital, where he was said to be in stable condition.

Burnett was found at L.A. Prexy Davis Drive & Bell Street.

No motive for the shooting was known.

Police said an arrest is "pending." It wasn't immediately clear whether anyone else was involved other than Burnett and Lee.

The death marked the fourth homicide of the year in Pine Bluff.
