I-40 lane closures set in St. Francis County

Westbound lanes of Interstate 40 in St. Francis County will close starting Tuesday night to remove work-site materials, officials with the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department said Monday.

The closures will run from 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night for three nights, the Highway Department said in a statement. Drivers will be stopped at Arkansas 149's Exit 260 to use U.S. 70 as an alternate route, highway officials said.

Crews will be removing safety platforms and structural steel used to construct the new Arkansas 149 overpass near Shell Lake in northeast St. Francis County.

Overnight closures for eastbound lanes will likely begin April 25, the Highway Department said. Drivers in these lanes will be redirected near Arkansas 75 so they can use U.S. 70 as an alternate route, the release states.

If the work is not complete that night, it will resume on 11 p.m. April 28, highway officials said.
