GENTRY — Arkansas State Police say two teenagers were killed in a single-vehicle crash in Northwest Arkansas.

Authorities say the wreck happened Sunday night on Old Springtown Road in Gentry. According to a preliminary report, 19-year-old Zachary Long of Siloam Springs and 19-year-old Shawn Hurt of Gentry were traveling in a sport utility vehicle when the vehicle went off the road and into an embankment.

Long and Hurt were both ejected from the SUV and were pronounced dead at the scene. State police say they're still trying to determine who was driving at the time of the fatal crash.

The weather was clear and the road dry at the time of the wreck, according to the accident report.

Long and Hurt were the 95th and 96th to be killed in accidents on Arkansas roads so far this year, according to preliminary state police figures.

LSS......you are so right. I am 66 and I have worn my belt since I was 16. A lot of people think they will put it on just as an accident is starting to happen. I have also heard people want to be thrown clear. I tell them it is obvious to me that they never took Physics in high school. Prayers to the families.

Yes on the seat belts and I would guess that texting was also involved. These rules are made to save lives.
