At least two robbery suspects have surrendered after Little Rock police prepared to enter a home near Chicot Elementary on Tuesday morning, authorities said.
The school, at 11100 Chicot Road, was put on lockdown, but that lockdown was lifted after a short time. No injuries were reported.
Little Rock Police Department Sgt. Cassandra Davis said at the scene that police SWAT team was preparing to go into a house at 7525 Shady Grove Road when at least two suspects in a Monday night robbery surrendered about 11:15 a.m. The Shady Grove address is less than a quarter-mile from the school.
Davis said they were in the suspects of the robbery of a Shell gas station at 7400 Cantrell Road. One suspect was identified as Darius Johnson, 28, of Little Rock, whom police said was the primary suspect in "at least two armed robberies" in Little Rock. Johnson is likely to be charged with two counts of aggravated robbery, Lt. Sidney Allen said in a statement.
Chicot Road was blocked for a time, but it reopened about 11:45 a.m.
