Authorities say they are investigating a homicide after a woman found the body of her coworker in a Little Rock house Tuesday.

Little Rock Police Department Sgt. Cassandra Davis said the coworker hadn't heard from the victim in a "couple of days" and went to the home in the 4100 block of Tatum Street just before 11 a.m. The victim's body was found inside.

Davis said police couldn't confirm whether the victim — described as a woman in her late 40s or early 50s — lived in the residence. Police are not yet releasing information on her identity or about the cause of death, which Davis said hasn't been determined.

"But based on the evidence inside the scene, we will be working this death as a homicide," she said.

The time of death is also unclear, Davis said, noting that will be determined in an autopsy.

Crime scene tape roped off the yard and street in front of the home early Tuesday afternoon while detectives searched the yard and put on plastic shoe covers before going inside.
