Paragould obstetrician sought in video voyeurism

A Paragould gynecologist is being sought on video-voyeurism charges over accusations he took nude photos of a patient during an exam without her knowledge, Prosecuting Attorney Scott Ellington said Tuesday.

Ellington said Greene County District Judge Dan Stidham on Monday issued a warrant for the arrest of Paul Becton Jr., 68, who is being sought by the Arkansas State Police. Becton specializes in obstetric and gynecology and runs a private practice, the Becton Women's Clinic, at 1000 W. Kingshighway No. 6 in Paragould.

The five charges of video voyeurism, a Class D felony, stemmed from an investigation that began after a patient told the Paragould Police Department that Becton had used his cellphone during a medical examination to take photographs of her pubic area and buttocks, according to Becton's arrest affidavit.

The hospital where Becton practices and the Arkansas Medical Board are aware of the allegations, and Becton has not seen any patients this week, Ellington said.
