Pine Bluff marijuana-growing operation seized

Pine Bluff police found about 60 marijuana plants in what they called a complex growing operation Tuesday at a home in town.

Pine Bluff Police Department officers, its narcotics unit and its SWAT team executed a search of a home at 6809 Calhoun St. about 10:30 a.m., department spokesman Lt. David E. Price said in a statement.

Price said tips from the public and controlled buys led officers to the home.

Seth Garrison, 33, and Leslie Garrison, 26, of Pine Bluff were taken into custody on several felony drug charges including manufacturing a controlled substance; possession of a controlled substance with the purpose to distribute; simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms; and possession of drug paraphernalia, Price said in the statement.

In the search, authorities found "a complex growing operation of what appeared to be marijuana," Price said. Officers also found a room that had been converted into a “grow house” that included ventilation systems, special lighting and timers for the plants, he added.

About 60 mature plants, with an estimated street value of about $80,000, were recovered, along with methamphetamine, Xanax and a handgun, police said.
