•–––––RAYMOND CHARLES BALTZ was called home to be with the Lord on April 13, 2014. Born in Pocahontas, Arkansas, on February 5, 1930, to Bartholomew and Rose Baltz, Ray was the eighth of twelve children. Throughout his life, he was blessed with siblings who remained close, caring, and supportive of each other throughout their lives.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, his son Raymond Baltz Jr., and his brothers, Robert, Thomas, James, and Fintan. Ray is survived by Mary Henning Baltz, his loving wife of 60 years; and by seven of his eight children: Rosanna Smith of Cabot, Ark.; Becky Baltz of Little Rock, Ark.; Melinda Baltz of Mountain Home, Ark.; Marvin Baltz of Houston, Texas; Diana (Rick) Gregory of Little Rock, Ark.; Theresa (David) Fender of Fayetteville, Ark.; and Amanda (Mark) Wilson of Little Rock, Ark.. Ray is also survived by his 15 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, three brothers, Max Baltz, Lucian Baltz, and Curtis Baltz and four sisters, Alice Jansen, Catherine Barre, Helen Hunter, and Francis Steimel, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Religion had a special place in Ray’s heart, and he was a life-long Catholic and a long-time member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Pocahontas, Ark., where he was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

Ray was a proud and passionate man who overcame rheumatic fever as a child so that he could one day lead his own children by example in every aspect of life. He supported his family by utilizing his skills as a craftsman, working long, hard hours painting houses in order to provide for his wife and eight children. In his free time, he enjoyed duck and deer hunting with his brothers.

Ray will be remembered as a compassionate husband, a loving father, and a cheerful grandfather. He was an avid angler who ardently fished every stream, river, and lake in Arkansas with his children, sonsin-law, grandchildren, and great grand children. Ray was known for telling stories about the elusive “wampus cat” that dwelled in the depths of the lake. His grandchildren and great grandchildren will remember him for his love of gardening, sitting around campfires, playing cards, and winning big at the casino and horse races. Ray moved to Little Rock several years ago so that he could be closer to his family, but his heart never left Pocahontas, Ark.

His funeral service was held at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Pocahontas, Ark., at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 15, 2014. All family and friends are invited to celebrate Ray’s life. In lieu of flowers please make donations to St. Paul’s Catholic Church of Pocahontas.

•–––––CLARKSVILLE — Henry H. Walton was born September 7, 1928 in Clarksville, Ark. to parents Ruby Louise and C.B. (Burr) Walton. Dr. George Hargrave delivered him at home. Henry lived in Johnson Co. for his entire life alongside his five siblings. Henry was the fifth of six children born to the Waltons. Raymond, R.P, Anna, and Ruby Louise were all older siblings to Henry. Jimmy Earl was Henry’s younger brother.

Henry lived an eventful and fruitful life filled with family, friends, and laughter. He also served his country as a member of the Navy during the Korean War from 1948-1951. He was stationed in Norfolk, Va., and was assigned to two ships, the USS Coral Sea and USS Daniel A. Joy.

After returning from the war, Henry married the love of his life, JoAnn Park, on January 16, 1955 at the First Methodist Church of Clarksville Chapel. Over their 59 years of marriage, Henry and JoAnn shared their love and laughter with countless friends and the family they created together.

Henry was lucky enough to have three children. Sara, Raymond, and Susie were his pride and joy. Even at his death, the sight and sound of his children brought a smile to his face.

Henry was also blessed with two grandsons. Dr. Alfred William Keller III and Benjamin Paul Keller, sons to Sara, were Henry’s second crowning achievement. He donned the title “Papaw” after the birth of his grandchildren and has been known by this moniker ever since. He loved spending time with his grandsons and teaching them the many life lessons he had picked up over his time on this world. Besides family, Henry dedicated his time and efforts after the war to his work and to his community. He began to work for the family construction business, C. Burrow Walton Construction, as a carpenter upon his return home. Henry then worked at the Clarksville Shoe Factory for 25 years before retiring.

Henry also served as a Scoutmaster for Troop 76 for seven years. He also regularly attended the Friendship Sunday School through the First United Methodist Church of Clarksville. Henry’s love for his church and community came through his wonderful meals he prepared. Nearly every event held by the church had Henry overseeing the kitchens.

Henry Walton left this life for the next at 7:08 p.m. on Sunday April 13, 2014. He was surrounded by his loving wife, JoAnn, his three children, and his two grandchildren as he departed for the next journey in his eternal life. His mother and father, his five siblings, and his sonin-law Dr. Alfred William Keller, Jr. precede Henry in death.

Henry is survived by his wife JoAnn, his three children, Sara, Raymond, and Susie, his two grandsons, Will and Ben, and countless other family members and friends. Henry will always be remembered as the man who said family is what mattered most. Through the best and the worst, he was always there for his family; ready to crack a joke and to make us smile again.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all memorials be given to the First United Methodist Church of Clarksville Building Fund.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at Roller-Cox Funeral Home.
