Second thoughts

Former University of Arkansas golfer John Daly didn’t play in the Masters last week, but as he usually does the Dardanelle native still drew attention by hitting a tee shot from the mouth of a model, thankfully without injury — to neither Daly nor the model.

Hitting from lady’s tee OK with Big John

John Daly didn’t play in the Masters last week, but he definitely hit one of the shots of the week.

Daly (Dardanelle, Arkansas Razorbacks) posted a video on social media of him placing a tee in a woman’s mouth, setting a golf ball on it and smacking a typical John Daly bomb. The woman, model Katherine Michelle, says on her Twitter page that she is the best friend of Daly’s girlfriend, Anna Cladakis.

Daly has some experience at this kind of shot. Back in 2012, he hit a similar tee shot using David Feherty as a tee.

Daly’s recommendation on Twitter: Don’t try this at home.

The one to beat

Tiger Woods has got to win another major eventually, right?

That’s pretty much what everyone has been saying since his U.S. Open victory in 2008.

Even Jack Nicklaus, the man Woods is chasing, believes so. The question is when, not if, and notin relation to his next victory, but when he’ll be back on the course, period.

He missed the first Masters of his professional career because of back surgery. He’s pretty iffy for the U.S. Open at Pinehurst, in June, too, so it’s a tough question to answer.

Yet, somehow, Woods is still favored to win the U.S. Open. He and Rory McIlroy are each 10-1 favorites on online betting site, Bovada. Adam Scott has the next best odds at 12-1.

This all coming after his pal Notah Begay said Woods will likely miss it.

No fear, though, Woods also is the favorite to win the British Open at Hoylake at Royal Liverpool in July. His odds are 7-1 there.

This just proves that even though he’s on a six-year drought, sports books still won’t bet against him.

False suggestion?

An “anonymous NFL executive” told the Times of Trenton that South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney is “spoiled” and “lazy.”

Wrote Reggie Hayes of The News-Sentinel of Fort Wayne, Ind.: “Either this is great insight on the potential No. 1 draft pick or the ‘anonymous NFL executive’ would really like to see Clowney available when it’s time for his team to pick.”

Arrested development

From Janice Hough of leftcoastsportsbabe.com:

“There have been 17 NFL arrests so far in 2014, including one owner. Right now the 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens are tied with most, with three each.

But don’t rule out the perennial contenders like the Detroit Lions and Cincinnati Bengals.”
