Interstate 30 lanes shut for work in Hempstead County

The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department says reconstruction work on the shoulders of Interstate 30 will mean lane closures on the interstate in Hempstead County in southwest Arkansas.

The department said crews are reconstructing the inside shoulders and preparing to resurface seven miles of I-30 west of Hope. Westbound traffic had been limited to one lane, and now eastbound and westbound are limited to one lane in both directions.

The lane closures are between mile markers 22 and 30 and will continue until mid-July.

The project is part of the Interstate Rehabilitation Program approved by voters in 2011 and is expected to be fully completed by August.
