Man arrested in death of school district employee

Little Rock police have made an arrest in the homicide of Debbie Bush, who was found stabbed to death in her home Tuesday.

Joe Wicker, 40, was arrested and charged with capital murder Friday night, Little Rock Police Department spokesman Lt. Sidney Allen said in a statement. Police didn't elaborate on how Wicker came to be identified as a suspect.

On Tuesday morning, police responded to Bush's home at the 4100 block of Tatum Street, where her body was found inside.

The Democrat-Gazette previously reported that Bush worked at Wilson Elementary School, and when she didn't show up to work Tuesday, a colleague tried to reach her by phone.

When she didn't answer, co-worker Mattie Norman went to Bush’s 4122 Tatum St. home about 10:53 a.m. She noticed the carport door was open and went inside, where Norman found Bush in her bedroom, with blood all over the bed and the floor.

Bush worked for the child nutrition department for nearly 30 years.
