Where I live: I live in Westover Heights, which is near Cammack Village in Little Rock, with my daughter, Katharine, and our dog, Wrigley. My son, Barrett, is a freshman at the University of Michigan.

Occupation: Clinical programs director and associate professor at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Bowen School of Law. The clinical program provides opportunities for law students to work with real clients under the supervision of licensed lawyers.

My favorite space is: My kitchen.

Why? I live in a small house and the three front rooms were tiny. I decided to knock down the walls and create space between the living room, dining room and kitchen. We also moved the laundry room to a different part of the house. We moved the refrigerator to the back wall where the laundry room had been, creating even more storage and counter space. There is a two-tiered granite counter top with a deep blue glass tile back splash and a built-in wine rack. Opening the space up has made it great for entertaining. From the kitchen bar I can keep an eye on my daughter while I cook, watch television or check my email.

If I could make one change to improve this space, I would: Create more living space by opening the kitchen and dining room to a screened-in porch.
