FUN A LA FOOD

24 eateries feed 500; $75,000 raised

Twenty-four restaurants and caterers offered up their best bites April 11 at Arkansas a la Carte at Arkansas Children’s Hospital’s Children’s Hall.

Small picnic baskets filled with potted flowers and bottles of wine decorated tall cocktail tables while large drifts of flowering plants and bushes surrounded food and auction tables and helped create the feeling of a spring picnic.

While enjoying a variety of foods, guests could bid on silent auction items, including a variety of premier items such as a hot air balloon ride and a seven-night Costa Rica vacation.

The event was a hospital auxiliary fundraiser to help pay for a new infant and toddler wing as well as a new Arkansas Children’s House, part of the hospital’s Center for Children at Risk, said event chairman Susan Reynolds. She explained that through this and other fundraisers such as Miracle Ball, the auxiliary hopes to raise $1 million for the hospital.

About 500 guests attended the fun-and-food-filled event and raised $75,000 toward the goal.
