RAGIN’ CAJUN BASH

Cajuns rage again at soiree to raise $119,431 for CARTI

Cancer treatment organization CARTI let the good times roll once again during the 10th anniversary of its Ragin’ Cajun Bash, held April 10 at the River Market pavilions in Little Rock.

Presented by Iberia Bank, the bash drew more than 1,250 people. Again, guests seated themselves and enjoyed all-they-could-eat mudbugs with Cajun side items, Popeye’s chicken, red beans and rice, and desserts. Leroy Thomas and the Zydeco RoadRunners entertained the crowd.

During the evening’s program, cancer survivor LaTonya Eakles shared her experiences at CARTI. Dr.

Brad Baltz spoke about plans for the new CARTI Cancer Center scheduled to open in fall 2015 and Lee Owens was crowned “King of the Bash.”

CARTI’s fundraising total was more than a mere lagniappe. The $119,431 amount exceeded the event’s previous high of $105,000, set in 2013.
