The front lawn of the Old State House was the setting at 6 p.m. Saturday, April 12, for the marriage of Lara Nichole Blume and Dr. Brian Lelon McGee. The Rev. Larry Banks of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church of West Memphis, officiated.
Parents of the bride are Jean and Richard Blume of Little Rock. She is the granddaughter of the late Wilford Blume of Newark, N.J., and the late Ida Lee Blume of Keo.
Ross and Benjamin McGee of Memphis are the parents of the groom. He is the grandson of the late John Henry Jackson of Bessemer, Ala., and the late Bessie Johnson of Chicago.
Arrangements of hydrangeas, cream roses, lilies and baby’s breath decorated the ceremony site. Music was by harpist Alisa Coffey and violinist Meredith Hicks.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an ivory fitted gown with an overlay of corded lace and tulle embellished with Swarovski crystals. She carried a bouquet of white roses, gardenias and orchids.
Maid of honor was Karla J. Smith of Miami. Bridesmaids were Marti Escalambre of New York; Robin Bolden of Atlanta; Stephanie Haygood of Little Rock, cousin of the bride; Monica Sanchez and Lorraine Smith, both of Los Angeles; and Marisa Smith of Austin, Texas, cousin of the bride. They wore champagne-colored dresses ina variety of styles and wrist corsages of white miniature roses, orchids and baby’s breath.
Flower girls were Masyn Blume Dupont of Lafayette, La., niece of the bride; Leyla Kayl McGee of Hot Springs, daughter of the bride and groom; and Mikayla Marie Haygood of Little Rock.
Best man was Benjamin McGee II of Memphis, brother of the groom. Groomsmen were Brian Edge and Douglas Blume, brother of the bride, both of Little Rock; William Dailey of St. Louis; Tremell Ollie of Orlando, Fla.; Dr. Dhaval Patel of Hot Springs; Rodney Richardson of Marion; and Carnail Williams of Osceola. Guests were seated by Jackson Reed of Magnolia.
A reception at the Capital Hotel followed the ceremony, where centerpieces consisted of arrangements of white wedding flowers and candles in Mason jars. Music was by The Gary Escoe Band of Memphis. Assisting were Michelle Khamis and Marissa Drees.
The bride is CEO of Team Up World, founder of the ALS In Wonderland Foundation and a Sotheby’s Sports & Entertainment real estate partner.
The groom is a gastroenterologist at St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center.
After a wedding trip to Como, Italy, the couple will return home to Hot Springs.
