CONWAY - Doris Marie (Brantner) Maness, 87, of Conway, went to be with her Lordand Savior on Wednesday, April 16, 2014. She was born on Saturday, Feb. 19, 1927 in Red Mud, Texas, to the late Kay Parrack and Pearl Marie (Hoover) Brantner.

She was alsopreceded in death by her daughter, Susan Camille Maness; two sisters, Irene Lemley and Joyce Wooten; and her brother, Ralph Brantner.

Doris was a founding member of Fellowship Bible Church of Conway. Affectionately known as Miss Doris, she was a faithful member of Women at the Well, a great Bible teacher, prayer warrior, and loved by all who knew her.

There was not much Doris wouldn’t try. As a young military wife she traveled alone with three small children across the ocean to live in London, England. While living there, she learned to knit. She loved to make things with her hands. She could cross stitch, quilt and made beautiful pieces with hardanger embroidery. All her grandchildren have quilts made by their granny. She often lamented that her two daughters did not share her love of a needle and thread.

She really loved her family and there are so many great memories of the times spent together cooking and sharing meals, and laughing. If she ever got tickled, she would laugh so hard she couldn’t catch her breath, a trait her daughter shares. Doris faced many challenges in life, but she never complained. Her faith in God sustained her and she was in inspiration to all that knew her.

Those left to mourn her passing are her children, Charles Clay Maness of North Little Rock; her daughter, Melissa (Maness) Dean of Conway; four grandchildren, Sara Vint (Mark), Christy Dean, Tyler and Britton Maness; three great-grandchildren, Carly and Caroline Vint and Keaton Maness; brother, Ron Brantner of Allen, Texas; numerous other nieces and nephews, and special friends. She loved them all dearly.

Funeral services are set for 10 a.m., Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Fellowship Bible Church, 1051 Hogan Lane, Conway with Pastor Ken Wilson officiating. CONWAY - Patsy Marie Hannah Norman was born March 12, 1929, in Jonesboro, Ark. She was the second of four children born to Louis and Bessie Hannah. Raised in rural Craighead County, she played basketball and graduated from Valley View High School.

Her high school sweetheart, Bill Norman, enlisted in the Navy at age 17 to serve during WWII. Soon after he returned they weremarried - Nov. 30, 1947. Prior to his death in 2013, they celebrated 66 years of marriage.

Initially they made their home in Jonesboro, Ark. where they shared their time and love with friends at Mt Carmel Methodist Church. Theywere blessed with two sons.

Opportunity led them to Brinkley, Ark. where they worked, owned businesses and farmed. First United Methodist Church became a cornerstone in their lives where Patsy served as secretary for numerous years.

Later in life they moved to Conway, to be closer to their sons and grandchildren. Grace United Methodist Church welcomed them and became the center of their life with more people to love and serve.

Patsy Norman’s life would remind some of Jimmy Stewart in the movie “It’s A Wonderful Life”. There always was work to do, and cakes, pies, and casseroles to be baked and delivered to someone hurting or in need. There were missions to serve, an ear to lend, and kids to deliver to and from events. She loved and gave of her time and talents, never thinking of reward or the impact she had on others.

She was known as Patsy, Pat, Momma, and Memaw. We will miss her but praise God in the knowledge we will meet again.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Melba Irvin and Jane Davis; and brother, Jim Hannah.

Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Robert A (Bob) Norman and wife Brenda of Solgohachia, Ark., and Michael L (Mike) Norman and wife Ann of Conway, Ark.; four grandchildren, William (Bill) Norman and wife Michelle, and Jeffrey (Jeff) Norman and wife Sarah both of Bentonville, Ark., Hannah V Norman and Andrew R Norman, of Conway, Ark.; and great-grandchildren, Katherine, Matthew, Robbie, and Jocylen, all of Bentonville.

Melanie was instrumental in bringing healthcare into small town areas, many of which had never before had the opportunity for quality, affordable care. She delighted in knowing that all people, regardless of financial status, could receive top of the line care. She had a heart for the communities and worked tirelessly to promote health care in all areas of Northwest Arkansas. Her vision was realized when the Marshall clinic opened in 1994 serving the healthcare needs of Searcy County. During Melanie’s leadership as Executive Director, the patient population grew to over 13,000. Without a doubt, Melanie’s vision grew even more than she could have imagined. She worked to ensure that not only the patients were served, but that Boston Mountain employees had quality jobs and benefits. She truly made a difference to every life she touched. Melanie retired in 2012 after almost 20 years of dedication to Boston Mountain RuralHealth Center.

Melanie married her high school sweetheart, Kenny on May 30, 1970 at Witts Spring. She always had a twinkle in her eye when she told stories about her family. Her pride and joy were her two grandchildren, Kendrick and Charlie. She doted on them daily.

Although her passing has left a huge void in the hearts of all she touched, she will live on in our memories. She was smart, witty and beautiful. She loved the color red. She was known far and wide for her love of raw onions, but most of all, she loved her family more than anything. She would stop you on the street to tell you about her grandchildren.

AUSTIN, Texas - Gary Wayne Williamson, M.D. left the lovingpresence of his family on April 15, 2014. Gary was born on Nov. 29, 1937 in Hot Springs, Ark., the youngest of five children born to Ruth Ella and Joseph Henry Williamson. Twobrothers, Robert and Earl, preceded Gary in death; as well as his sister, Jo Helen Cook. He is survived by his oldest brother, Loyd Dean Williamson of Little Rock; as well as many nieces and nephews, all of Arkansas.

Gary received his early education in Hot Springs, while growing up on the family farm. He received his B.S. degree from Hendrix College in Conway, Ark., followed by a Master’s degree at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. He received his M.D. degree from the Universityof Arkansas Medical School in Little Rock. During the Vietnam War, he began his service to his country when he was called to active duty, and he served in the Air Force from 1967-1969, while stationed at Carswell Air Force Base in Ft. Worth. Following his honorable discharge, he came to Austin for a football game between Arkansas and Texas, and a short while later he moved his family to Austin, to fulfill his lifelong dream as a radiologist, with Capital Imaging Association. He soon became a familiar face around St. David’s Hospital, where he served as Chief of Staff. He was also President of Texas Radiological Society, President of Travis County Radiological Society, Chief of Staff at St.David’s Hospital, and named as a Diplomat of the American Board of Radiology, Texas Medical Society, and a fellow of the American College of Radiology. In addition to all of this, he managed to find time to serve as President of the Re-Write of the Medical Practice Act for the State of Texas, and was honored by them as a recipient of the Commendation Award. Additionally, for his contributions to Austin YMCA, he was awarded the Distinguished Service Award.

Although Gary was devoted to, and immersed in his studies, while pursuing his M.D., he did manage to find time to court a girl from Mountain View, Ark., and in 1960 he married Jacqueline Rosa Jones, and they began their lifelong journey together, including the raising of their three children. Although his love of radiology demanded long hours, Gary was never too busy to enjoy life with Jackie, and she could frequently be seen needle pointing in the golf cart whileGary practiced a sport he dearly loved, or taking up the sport of bird hunting herself, and joining him on many trips to South Texas during quail season, accompanied by occasional friends, and Gary’s beloved bird dogs, who always obeyed his order to “Kennel Up” which later became his license tag. Gary’s hunting dog, “Pards” will be lost without him. Gary found time to enjoy time spent at Austin Country Club with his golfing buddies, winning several matches along the way, and being honored as Sportsman of the Year.

Although Gary left the family farm behind, the farm life never completely left him, and he nurtured his love of the out-ofdoors, and always had a very productive garden growing along the boundary with Camp Mabry, behind his house, each spring. And it was while enjoying his time gardening, or working with his hunting dogs, that his neighbors could occasionally be treated to the sound of Gary’swonderful laugh drifting over the fence.

Gary and Jackie were blessed with the love they shared during the many years they spent together, many of them enjoying an active social life in Austin, and the blessing of their home in Iron Horse Mountain, in Whitefish, Mont., where they loved to entertain their many friends, and spend winter holidays in the snowy shadow of Glacier Peak with their family. There are the memories that will keep the love of Gary alive in the hearts of his beloved wife of 54 years, Jackie; and their three children: Kevin, and partner William Miller, Lezlie and John Glade, Jennifer and Sam Lucchese; and grandchildren, Grayson, Helena, and Jacqueline Glade, Talley and Sam Lucchese; and granddaughter, Channing and her husband Micah Wakeman and their four daughters.

The family would also like to give a special thanks to his caregivers, Owen, Lourdes, and Simone.

And so we must all say goodbye to a remarkable man with the words of John Donne imprinted upon our hearts···”No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main.” We will forever miss you, Gary Wayne!

Several years later he was in the general area and popped into the bar on a Saturday night. He asked for Bob and Bill the owners of the bar. They said that’s us. He replied “I’m C.P. did you get my post cards?” The first question they asked was how do you know us. He said I know your friends back in D.C. Sitting on shelf behind the bar were his post cards.
