Teen killed in hit-and-run crash, driver arrested

— Police in Pine Bluff say the suspected driver in a fatal hit-and-run collision that killed a teenager has been arrested.

Police told reporters that 14-year-old Charles Jones was killed Friday night when he was struck while crossing U.S. 79 on the city's south side. Police say witnesses reported that the driver left the scene -- but a car matching the description of the one that struck Jones was later found and the suspected driver arrested early Saturday.

The suspect was arrested for negligent homicide, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and driving while intoxicated and is being held in the Jefferson County jail without bond pending the filing of formal charges.
