Police beat

A Little Rock man who suffered gunshot wounds Sunday will face two battery charges once he’s released from a local hospital, authorities said.

Just after 8:30 a.m., Pulaski County sheriff’s deputies were called to the 700 block of Metsy Lane on a shooting, deputies said.

At 721 Metsy Lane, deputies found Jessica Upchurch, 32, and Gary Carter Jr., 34, suffering from gunshot wounds, deputies said.

Down the block at 707 Metsy Lane, authorities found Jason Vance, 35, also suffering from gunshot wounds.

All three were taken to local hospitals and their conditions were unknown late Sunday.

The shootout started with a domestic dispute, prompting Vance to fire at Upchurch, his ex-wife, and Carter, department spokesman Lt. Chris Ameling said. Either Upchurch or Carter fired back, he said.

Vance tried to leave the shooting site, but Ameling said it was unclear whether he was fleeing.

Vance was initially charged Sunday with two counts of first-degree battery, but more charges are likely once he is booked into the Pulaski County jail, Ameling said.

No further information on the shooting was available Sunday.

Police on lookout for female shooter

Little Rock police are looking for a woman who they said shot a man in the neck Sunday.

About 12:45 p.m., officers were called to the 3000 block of Adams St., where they found a man with a gunshot wound to his neck in the road, police said.

The man was taken to UAMS Medical Center with critical injuries, police said. The shooter has been described only as a black woman.
