I-30 wreck near Benton clogs traffic Monday afternoon

A wreck on Interstate 30 westbound near Benton clogged traffic for nearly an hour Monday afternoon, state officials said.

Arkansas State Police spokesman Bill Sadler said traffic had stopped around 12:30 p.m. to allow Medflight to land at the scene near mile marker 114.

Injuries were reported, Sadler said, but the number and extent of them weren’t immediately known.

Sadler also said he was unsure of how many vehicles were involved in the crash.

The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department, which first reported the accident around noon, said on its Twitter account that the wreck had been cleared as of 12:45 p.m. and traffic should resume through the area.

Arkansas Online will provide more details as they become available.
