Bids for work on Maumelle, McCain boulevards OK'd

MAUMELLE — The Arkansas Highway Commission has approved bids for improvements to two busy roads in central Arkansas.

The Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department announced Tuesday that the commission awarded a $2.1 million contract to resurface 6.2 miles of Maumelle Boulevard in Maumelle. The work will extend west from Interstate 430 to Murphy Drive.

The commission also awarded a $267,000 contract to resurface nearly 1 mile of McCain Boulevard in North Little Rock. The work will extend east from North Hills Boulevard to U.S. 67.

Work on both projects is expected to begin in the next two to four weeks. The North Little Rock project is expected to be complete this spring with the Maumelle project wrapping up this fall.
