District suspends principal with pay

Brent Mitchell, the principal at Fuller Middle School in the Pulaski County Special School District, has been suspended with pay from his job pending the outcome of a district investigation into an allegation against him.

Paul Brewer, the district’s chief executive officer/human resources, on Tuesday refused to say what prompted the suspension that occurred Friday, saying it was a personnel matter not subject to public disclosure.

Brewer did say there was no police report of criminal activity tied to the suspension and school district investigation.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the investigation was ongoing and no recommendation had been made about Mitchell’s employment, Brewer said.

Fuller Middle School serves grades six through eight. The school is being managed by assistant principals and a dean of students in Mitchell’s absence, Brewer said.
