Ex-CIA deputy director to speak in LR tonight

A former deputy director of the CIA is set to speak Wednesday night in Little Rock.

Michael Morell has served as director for intelligence at the CIA, executive director at the CIA and deputy director for intelligence at the National Counterterrorism Center. He joined the CIA in 1980 as an analyst and led a regional office in the Directorate of Intelligence, the unit that produces the president’s daily briefing.

In his career, he has received numerous awards, including the Presidential Rank Award for exceptional performance, the Distinguished Intelligence Medal for his role in the 2011 operation against Osama bin Laden and the Distinguished Career Intelligence Medal, among others.
