The Little Rock School District is holding its annual Artistry in the Rock showcase of students’ achievements in the visual and performing arts today through Friday at the Clear Channel Metroplex Event Center, 10800 Colonel Glenn Road.
Students from different schools will perform each day from 10 a.m. to about 12:30 p.m. Bands, choirs, dancers, drama troupes, a piano soloist, percussion ensembles and jazz musicians are among the featured performers. The Student Art Gallery will be open those days from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Jazz R US Reception and Silent Auction, a free jazz reception for adults, will be at 5:30 p.m. Friday, also at the Metroplex Event Center. Danny Fletcher and Jazz R US will perform.
A silent auction at the Friday event will feature faculty and student artwork, and the proceeds from the auction will benefit the Morris Holmes Artistry Scholarship Fund for Little Rock School District students.
