A 22-year-old Little Rock man was shot at least once in an altercation at a truck stop, authorities said.

It happened shortly after 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Love's truck stop at 11700 Interstate 30.

Little Rock police say witnesses reported the occupants of two cars at adjacent gas pumps were arguing when the driver of one of them pulled out a handgun and opened fire on a passenger in the other vehicle.

That passenger, identified as Chance Kumpe of Little Rock, ran through the parking lot and was hit "in the back side" at least once, the report said.

He returned to the vehicle and it fled the scene, but police found it a short time later in front of the nearby Bass Pro Shops. Kumpe, who was still in the car, was taken from there by ambulance to Baptist Health Medical Center. The severity of his injuries wasn't clear.

Police say they found shell casings and a handgun on the ground near the gas pump at the truck stop.

The driver who opened fire fled in an unknown direction onto Otter Creek Parkway, the report added. He is described as a black man 16 to 19 years old who stood 5-foot-7, weighed 140 pounds and wore a blue baseball hat, a red T-shirt and brown pants. He was driving a gold Pontiac Grand Prix.

No arrests have been made.

I think we should move the affirmative action plan from the schools to the courts, that way you always get what's coming to you no matter what color you are. Same situation, different players, same demographic problem. Shoot first and run. And we wonder why honest citizens want the right to carry a firearm and defend themselves these days.
