The Historic Rice Mill in Charleston, S.C., was the setting at 6:30 p.m. Friday, April 18, for the marriage of Katherine Murry Steen and Jordan Ross Owens. The father of the groom officiated.

The bride is the daughter of Kay and Leslie Steen, 2910 Foxcroft Road. Her grandparents are the late Margaret and George Stewart of Gillett and the late Opal and Wallace Steen of Newport.

The groom is the son of Kathy Owens of Conway and Charles Owens of Mountain View. His grandparents are Jean and Charles Owens of Morrilton and the late Margery and Carl Helm of St. Louis.

Vows were exchanged on the outside terrace of The Rice Mill overlooking Charleston Harbor. Music was by classical guitarist Christopher Teeves.

Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a fitted gown of ivory Parisian lace over tulle and taupe charmeuse. The strapless bodice had a sweetheart neckline. Her bouquet was filled with white hydrangeas and cream and peach tea roses.

Serving as the bride’s honor attendants were Meagan Steen of Dallas, sister of the bride, and Brooke Steen of Little Rock, sister-in-law of the bride. Bridesmaids were Cara Hazlewood and Lindsey Ellis, both of Little Rock; Amanda Hemphill of Franklin, Tenn.; and Erin Goodwin of Fayetteville.

The honor attendants wore cocktail-length coral dresses of lace and the bridesmaids wore dresses of coral chiffon. They all carried bouquets of white hydrangeas.

Andy Housley of San Francisco was best man. Groomsmen were David Owens of Madison, Miss., and Josh Owens of Fayetteville, brothers of the groom; Trey Coleman, also of Fayetteville; and Talley Parker and Rainer Sabin, both of Dallas. Guests were seated by Jeb Steen of Little Rock, brother of the bride.

A reception, also at The Historic Rice Mill, followed the ceremony. Guest tables covered with celadon linens were centered with arrangements of white wedding flowers and candles. Music was by The Dave Landeo Band.

The bride has a bachelor’s degree in communication disorders and a master’s degree in speech language pathology from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta. She is a speech-language pathologist at Wendy Cassady Speech Pathology Inc.

The groom, also a UA graduate, has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He is a certified public accountant and is a financial analyst of mergers and acquisition strategy and business development at Simmons Foods Inc.

After a wedding trip to South Africa, the couple will make their home in Fayetteville.
