Bald Knob wreck leaves Missouri man dead

A Monday collision in White County left a Missouri man dead and a woman injured, the Arkansas State Police reported.

Billy Leatherwood, 63, of West Plains, Mo., was driving a 2003 Harley north on U.S. 167 in Bald Knob when a Ford F-150 heading east failed to yield while making a left turn onto Arkansas 367, according to a preliminary state police accident report. The motorcycle hit the pickup on its passenger side, the report states. The accident happened about 5:29 p.m.

Leatherwood and his passenger, Cathy Leatherwood, were taken with injuries to White County Medical Center in Searcy, where Billy Leatherwood died, state police said. Cathy Leatherwood's condition wasn't immediately available.

The road was dry and weather conditions clear at the time of the wreck, state police said.

Leatherwood's was the 113th death in wrecks on Arkansas roads so far this year, according to preliminary state police figures.
