ACLU cites 2 cases for striking voter-ID law

— A civil liberties group challenging Arkansas' voter-ID law says recent rulings in Wisconsin and Pennsylvania help their case that the new restriction shouldn't be enforced in the upcoming primary.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Arkansas on Wednesday added the rulings to their argument for a preliminary injunction against Arkansas' law, which requires voters to show photo identification before casting a ballot. The ACLU is suing on behalf of four voters.

The group cited a federal judge's ruling this week striking down Wisconsin's voter-ID law, and a Pennsylvania judge reaffirmed his ruling overturning a similar requirement in that state.

A hearing is scheduled Friday on the ACLU's preliminary injunction motion. The state Supreme Court has stayed a judge's decision in a separate case voiding the law.
