How to help

People across Arkansas are rallying to help those hit Sunday night by tornadoes. Churches, schools, universities and banks are among the places that have set up drop-off locations for critically needed items.

Where to donate

First Security Bank is among financial institutions gathering goods at its branches. The bank also set up an account for monetary donations to provide food, shelter and personal items for the survivors and volunteers.

Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 27025 Kanis Road, Little Rock, is accepting donations daily through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (501) 821-4309

The University of Arkansas at Little Rock is collecting items all over the campus, such as toiletry items, water and first-aid kits at the Donaghey Student Center and at Room 114 in Larson Hall; water bottles and canned food in the commons areas of East and West halls; and at Kappa Sigma and Pi Kappa Alpha. Other drop-off locations are the UALR Aquatics Lab, today’s Trojan baseball game and the UALR Bowen School of Law. The Chancellor’s Leadership Corps is coordinating the university’s efforts.

The University of Central Arkansas has a group of students spending today in Vilonia. The university also seeks volunteers for a week long service effort throughout Faulkner County from May 5-9. Funds can be donated online at uca.edu/go/DisasterAssistanceFund. The university also set up two drop off locations at the Torreyson Library and the UCA Physical Plant.
