Mistook phone for gun, officer states on stand

Testifying on Tuesday in the trial of a lawsuit accusing him of wrongly using deadly force in 2011, a veteran North Little Rock police officer told jurors he got only a “split-second look” at a reflective object he saw in an aggressive man’s left hand just before firing a bullet into the man’s shoulder in self-defense.
