Arkansas details changes to Medicaid expansion

By The Associated Press

This article was published August 1, 2014 at 1:44 p.m.

LITTLE ROCK — Arkansas is proposing requiring many participants in the state's compromise Medicaid expansion contribute monthly to health savings accounts and new limits on transportation for non-emergency services.

State officials on Friday released their proposed changes to the state's "private option," which was created last year as an alternative to expanding Medicaid under the federal health law. Two public hearings are planned next week as the state is preparing to submit the proposal to the federal government in September.

Lawmakers required the state to win approval for the changes by February in order to keep the program alive. Under the private option, Arkansas is using federal funds to purchase private insurance for thousands of low-income residents.

This story is typical of the whitewashed drivel that this "newspaper" rolls out. "Arkansas is proposing", WHO in Arkansas is proposing ? Do they have NAMES ?? "State officials on friday", WHAT state officials ?? Are you hiding their identities ? "Lawmakers required", Who are these "lawmakers" ? Give the voters of this state some real news for a change and quit shielding a certain political party from responsability for it's unpopular actions.

2boxers What amount would be appropriate for you to contribute to your health savings account, what will be the bases for the amount. Maybe one based on cancer or maybe just open heart surgery or how about just a knee replacement. Will you need one for each kid or just a catch all account for them?
