Public meetings in LR, NLR to discuss transportation study

Public involvement meetings for Little Rock and North Little Rock residents will be held this week to present the results of a study addressing transportation needs and potential improvements on major roads in the metro area, Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department officials said.

Participants will be able to view maps, ask questions and provide input about the results of the department's Interstate 30 Planning and Environmental Linkage Study, the area of which includes I-30 from I-40 to I-530 and I-40 from JFK Boulevard to U.S. 67. The study is part of the department’s Connecting Arkansas Program, which began in 2012 to improve transportation across Arkansas by easing congestion, and improving roads throughout the state, officials said in a statement.

The meeting for North Little Rock residents will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce, 100 Main St., while the meeting for Little Rock residents will be held during the same time Thursday at Comfort Inn and Suites Presidential, 707 I-30.
