A Huttig man was killed Thursday night after his pickup veered off a rainy Union County highway and overturned, authorities said.
It happened shortly before 11:30 p.m. as Marcus D. Thompson, 42, drove a 1991 Chevy S-10 north on Arkansas 129 South in Huttig, according to an Arkansas State Police report.
Police say the pickup was in a curve when it went out of control, overturning off the highway. The road was wet and it was still raining at the time of the accident, the report noted.
Thompson died from unspecified injuries.
The death was the 247th in a traffic crash in Arkansas so far this year, according to preliminary figures.
