KARK anchor Mosler to leave broadcast, join church

KARK morning anchor Matt Mosler announced on the air Friday that he will leave the station at the end of the month to join the pastoral staff of New Life Church’s Greater Little Rock campus.

Mosler, a 28-year broadcast veteran who joined KARK in 2006 and previously was a co-host of KATV's morning show, said his last day at the station will be Aug. 29.

"I've wrestled with this decision for a couple of years after I was first approached by New Life a few years back," Mosler told viewers in a segment at the end of Friday's KARK 4 Today morning show. "Ministry has always been a big passion for me, but I love working here. And I never felt the time was right to close the door on a profession like this that has been so good to me and my family."

In addition to anchoring KARK's morning show, Mosler is the director of Beautiful Feet Ministry and the CrossHeirs Retreat Center in Humphrey.

He said on the air Friday that the growth of his ministry, his youngest daughter's forthcoming departure for college and the early mornings of his current job convinced him "now is the time to begin this new journey."

Mosler said he will start his new position at New Life on Sept. 1.
