A suspect in a shooting at a Little Rock motel last month was arrested Thursday.

Devante Jones, 22, was charged with first-degree battery in the July 6 shooting of Ronald West. Jones, a convicted felon, also was charged with possession of a firearm by certain persons.

Jones purportedly shot West in the chest and arm after an argument over money at the Acme Motel, 3301 W. Roosevelt Road. West was hospitalized with injuries that weren't considered life-threatening.

Police reported recovering two bullet casings from the scene. West, 28, later identified Jones in a police photo lineup, police said. Surveillance footage from the motel supported West's claim that Jones was the shooter, according to a court affidavit.

It wasn't the first shooting involving Jones and the Acme Motel. In June 2013, Jones was shot in the legs and robbed of his cellphone after accepting a ride home from a man outside the motel, police reported.

Jones was being held in the Pulaski County jail late Thursday in lieu of bond.

Wife says husband forced car off road

A North Little Rock man who filed for divorce from his wife Wednesday ran her off the road while she was driving with their three children later that day, according to an arrest report.

Pulaski County sheriff's deputies responded to 10920 Reed Road, where Ruth Hernandez's vehicle was on its side in a ditch. Hernandez told deputies that her estranged husband, Juventino, had forced her off the road, the report said.

The couple's children -- 3, 4 and 6 -- were in the vehicle. No injuries were reported.

Court records show that Ruth Hernandez filed an order of protection July 24 against her husband of six years, citing domestic abuse. Deputies reported that she had the court order in her possession after the crash, but that it had not been served.

Juventino Hernandez, 58, was arrested at 11:30 p.m. at his home at 1422 W. 39th St. Deputies served him the order of protection, and he was charged with four counts of second-degree domestic battery.

He was being held in the Pulaski County jail in lieu of bond late Thursday.

Officers reported finding knives in a field south of the hotel. Further details on the robberies were unavailable.

William Johnson, 40, was arrested at 3:15 p.m. Thursday at 5306 W. 11th St. He was charged with two counts of aggravated robbery and two counts of theft of property.
