Police investigate shooting at Conway apartment complex

Conway police are investigating a Friday afternoon shooting at an apartment complex that left one man injured.

Conway Police Department spokesman Latresha Woodruff said the shooting occurred about 2:30 p.m. at Chapel Ridge Apartments, located at 401 2nd St.

Woodruff said a man in his mid-20s had gone to a unit in Building 14 of the complex to buy drugs and was shot by someone inside.

"He ran from the area after he'd gotten shot," she said.

After running from the shooter, Woodruff said, the victim knocked on doors of other residents in the complex and was able to get someone to contact police.

Conway police officers were able to talk to the victim and established Steven Banks, 22, as a person of interest in the shooting, Woodruff said.

The victim had been shot multiple times and was taken to Conway Regional Medical Center.

"Because of the severity of his injuries, he was transported to a Little Rock hospital," she said. "His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening."

The Conway Police Department released a photo of Banks on its Twitter account.
