Windstream gives center to pension fund

A limited liability corporation formed by Windstream Communications has transferred ownership of its data center at the intersection of Kanis Road and Chenal Parkway to the telecom's pension fund.

The transaction, valued at $8.5 million, is part of the Little Rock-based company's plan to contribute $75 million to the pension plan this year, according to a first quarter 2014 filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

"Contributions will be funded using cash, Windstream common stock or other assets, or a combination thereof," the filing states.

The company's filing for 2013 showed assets of $999.7 million and obligations of $1.2 billion.
